What We Do

Disasters have changed. They are more frequent, intense, and severe. Our relief system must change to meet the moment. REBUILD is a rapid-relief fundraising organization designed for our current climate reality. We respond to climate disasters by immediately moving money fast to local organizations serving directly affected communities and people.

RESPOND

REBUILD delivers money to vetted frontline organizations within 48 hours or less, supercharging rapid response donations for community care and relief. We eliminate bureaucracy: efficient systems and relationships are pre-built, ready to respond to disasters no matter where and when they hit. Immediate care and relief funding is distributed, including for food and water, cash assistance, mutual aid, and cleanup brigades.

REBUILD

REBUILD funds local operations that carry out immediate relief, recovery, and local organizing to impact the decisions that determine how local communities are rebuilt. REBUILD earmarks 30% of all funds raised for long-term recovery and rebuilding. Organizations we support protect their communities from land speculation and displacement, securing recovery funds from the federal and state are distributed, and making sure families are not taken advantage of by insurance companies or others who profit during disasters.

REIMAGINE

REBUILD invests in strategies to reimagine and shape a better future, not just rebuild what was.  Communities know what they need best; that’s why we support organizing and campaigns to address sustainable housing, climate resilience, local jobs, energy solutions, and a strong democracy. 30% of all funds raised go to organizations on the ground for the long term as they build a better future for all.
